Congratulations to Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust, which has been given an 'outstanding' overall rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The trust runs community-based health care services in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough - and neighbouring countries -  including contraception and sexual health, community dental services, services for adults and children and school age immunisation programmes.

The CQC is the independent regulator of all health and social care services in England and its  inspection report, published on Friday August 30, gave the Trust an outstanding rating for being well led and caring.

It scored good for being safe, effective and responsive. Its sexual health services were also given the highest rating.

The trust employs over 2000 staff and CQC inspectors said staff were non-judgemental in their approach to delivering holistic compassionate care with patients being active partners in their care.

Trust leaders were said to have "integrity, skills and abilities to run the service. They understood and managed the priorities and issues the service faced.  They were also "visible and approachable" for patients and staff.

Said the Trust's CEO Matthew Winn: "I am incredibly proud that the Care Quality Commission has rated our Trust 'Outstanding'.

"Staff across the Trust have worked hard to develop innovative and accessible services for local residents and this rating reflects their dedication and passion for delivering the very best outcomes for the communities we serve. I was delighted the CQC recognised what I witness all the time, that our staff are caring and compassionate in the way they provide care to local residents - all of our local teams have so much to be proud about."
